Welcome to Luckless Heaven! This website is (soon to be) the biggest encyclopedia for Nintendo-related information on the Internet. Currently under construction.

Other Hardware

This is a page for other miscellaneous Nintendo hardware. This includes consoles that were more side projects for Nintendo, such as the Nintendo Classic Mini micro consoles and Pokemon devices, and hardware that was intended for use across multiple consoles, such as amiibo and the Nintendo Wi-Fi router.

amiibo Figure

The term "amiibo" encompasses a large array of devices that use built-in NFC chips (near-field communication) to interact with videogames. What this basically means, is that amiibo devices can be held against a Wii U Gamepad, a New Nintendo 3DS, a Nintendo 3DS NFC Reader/Writer or a Nintendo Switch and its various controllers, in order to unlock bonus content for several different games. The original amiibo variant are the amiibo figures; small plastic statues, originally created for "Super Smash Bros. for 3DS/Wii U", with the aim of replicating the appearance of the trophies found in-game. When used with "Super Smash Bros. for 3DS/Wii U", the amiibo figure acts as an AI fighter that the player can level-up and personally train, but these figures could be used with plenty of other games as well, such as "Mario Kart 8" and "Super Mario Maker". Series of amiibo figures would be released for individual series as well, such as amiibo figures for "Splatoon", "Super Mario Bros.", "Animal Crossing" and others.

amiibo Diorama Kit

The amiibo Diorama Kit is a small pack of decorated card and plastic with no technology inside, that can be folded out to create a decorative stand to display amiibo figures. These dioramas are decorated to look like various videogame locations, related to a specific set of amiibo, such as a "Kelp Dome" diorama that can be used to display Splatoon amiibo in their natural setting. Some dioramas come with props that can be used to further decorate the location, and the "Squid Sisters Live" diorama can even has a slot for a smartphone or Nintendo 3DS to be used as a concert screen. These kits were only sold in Japan, and did not include amiibo figures.

amiibo Card

The amiibo cards were primarily released for the "Animal Crossing" series, initially releasing for "Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer" and still seeing new cards regularly. Designed in a similar way to the old Animal Crossing e-Reader cards, a card was released for each individual Animal Crossing neighbour and special character, allowing you to invite these characters directly to your game without needing to manually encounter these characters in-game. Cards were also released for "Mario Sports Superstars" and "Pokken Tournament", but in a much smaller quantity due to lack of popularity.

amiibo Yarn

The amiibo Yarn were released exclusively for "Yoshi's Woolly World" and "Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World". Rather than being plastic figures or small paper cards, these amiibo are knitted dolls, made to replicate the knitted aesthetic of "Yoshi's Woolly World". Using these amiibo with "Yoshi's Woolly World" spawns an AI-controlled second player, allowing people to simulate co-op play if no friends are available. These amiibo were produced after the Emi Watanabe, the associate producer of "Yoshi's Woolly World" knitted her own yarn dolls of Yoshi.
