Following up the popular Game Boy, this console raised the graphics and sound capability to a whole new level. Later models added a back-light and made more stylistic changes to the overall design of the console.

Game Boy Advance

The Game Boy Advance was a huge upgrade to the Game Boy family, with a more horizontally elongated body and a wider screen, boasting more power than even the SNES. This amount of power allowed several NES and SNES games to be ported easily to the console. The LCD screen had a far better response time than the original Game Boy, removing the issue of afterimages or "ghosting". New GBA cartridges and original GB cartridges can both be played on this console. The Game Boy Advance takes 2 AA batteries for approximately 15 hours of use. The system’s size specifications are height 82mm x width 144.5mm x depth 24.5mm. The system weighs about 140g, without the battery.

Sensor Game Cartridge

A game cartridge with a tilt sensor, which allows the Game Boy Advance to sense inclination and movement. Examples of this kind of game cartridge include the cartridges for "Koro Koro Puzzle Happy Panechu!" and "Yoshi’s Universal Gravitation” (also known as “Yoshi Topsy-Turvy” in America). Another type of Sensor Game Cartridge is a game cartridge with a special photometric light sensor, which allows the Game Boy Advance to sense sunlight. This type of game cartridge is used for the cartridge of “Boktai: The Sun is in Your Hand”, where sunlight influences the game.

e-Reader+

This is an accessory for reading e-Reader cards which were printed with special dot codes. It’s an improved version of the AGB-010, as it allows for the GBA Game Link Cable and adapters to be connected while the accessory is plugged in. A maximum of five Game Boy Advance consoles can be connected, and it’s far more convenient than having to use the GBA Game Link Cable. Data distribution services could also be offered at certain locations and events. The Wireless Adapter was released worldwide, bundled with "Pokemon FireRed/LeafGreen".

AGB-016

Six-Pin Protector Cover

When using the e-Reader+ with the Game Boy Advance SP, this cover protects the exposed six-pin terminal, since the GBA SP doesn’t have the link cable port next to the cartridge port, like the original GBA does. It is fixed onto the console with pre-applied adhesive tape.
