Smartphone

Portable device, Nintendo's first smartphone game (Miitomo) was released in 2016

A device used in modern times primarily for communication. While Nintendo has never made their own Smartphone or Smart Device, they began developing games for Smartphones, to provide a gateway to their iconic franchises for people not yet willing to fully invest in a Nintendo console.

Pokemon GO Plus

The Pokémon GO Plus is a device that uses Bluetooth Low Energy to link to smartphones, for use with "Pokemon GO". The device was developed to prevent people from playing Pokémon GO whilst walking, by vibrating to notify them when Pokemon appear. This means people can play Pokémon GO without needing to constantly look at their smartphone screen, preventing distraction and preventing potentially putting players in dangerous situations. The device has a clip on the back, allowing it to be clipped onto clothing or a bag. The device was packaged with either a wristband or ring accessory.

Pokemon GO Plus Wristband

The Pokemon GO Plus wristband is a colourful blue wristband with red and white stripes. It comes packaged with the original device in all regions, and allows for an easy and accessible way of wearing the Pokemon GO Plus, as clipping it onto a random bit of clothing or a bag is typically less secure and visible.

Pokemon GO Plus Ring Accessory

The Pokemon GO Plus ring accessory is a plain black plastic ring. It was released exclusively in Japan as an alternative to the standard clip or wristband, and was packaged with stickers based on other variants of the Poke Ball, allowing for customisation of the original device.

Pokemon GO Plus +

The Pokemon GO Plus + is a larger, newer model of the original Pokemon GO Plus device. The device is due to be released alongside the new Pokemon smartphone app "Pokemon Sleep", but is still compatible with "Pokemon GO". This device now has a rechargeable HAC-006 battery, recharged using a USB-C cable via the port at the bottom, instead of the Pokemon Go Plus' CR2032 watch batteries, which required disassembling the device and replacing the batteries when they ran out of charge. The device now also has speakers, so that Pokemon noises can be played as a lullaby or as a morning alarm. "Pokemon GO" functionality is also improved; this device will now automatically catch Pokemon you encounter, instead of simply alerting you to their presence.

Pokemon GO Plus + Strap with Clip

An adjustable strap that attaches to the Pokemon GO Plus +. It's similar in design to the Joy-Con Strap, though coloured yellow and with a connector that allows the strap to be opened and closed around a player's wrist. There's also a clip that can be attached to the plastic adjuster, which allows you to attach the Pokemon GO Plus + to a piece of clothing or a bag.
